DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire fraternity where nine brothers were arrested on drug charges last week has been kicked off campus, because of earlier violations.
Sigma Beta has lost all privileges, including university recognition. The fraternity has the right to appeal.
UNH says the dismissal is not related to last week's drug bust, but because of an incident last spring involving alcohol, hazing and endangering the lives of others. At the time of that incident, the fraternity already was on probation because of a stabbing three summers ago.
At the request of the fraternity, hearings on last spring's incident were not held until this fall.
In the latest incident, nine fraternity members were arrested following a three-month investigation by the Attorney General's Drug Task Force, Durham Police and UNH Police. Charges include growing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.
