General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $9 million contract from U.S. Army for M2HB machine guns, according to the company.

The work will be done at the company's Saco facility, which has delivered more than 25,000 M2 heavy barrel machine guns to the U.S. government since 1979.

Deliveries on the contract are expected to begin in late 2009.

GD employs almost 400 people at its Saco facility.
