FAIRFIELD $ P. Michael Slaney faces a challenge from Andrew York in the only contested race on the Nov. 4 special town meeting ballot.

Slaney, 53, has served on the town council for two years. The council appointed him to replace Phil Roy when Roy resigned to become a Somerset County Commissioner.

York, 34, is serving on the town's newly-formed marketing committee. He is the son of former Town Manager Terry York.

Polls at the Fairfield Community Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
