PORTLAND -- School Committee members have scheduled a public meeting on the district's latest budget deficit for Monday.
School officials said last week they expected a deficit of up to $250,000 for the fiscal year that ended in June.
The expected overrun would be the second straight for the district and would be modest in comparison to the nearly $2 million deficit that exposed accounting and oversight failures in the district last year.
School committee members are awaiting results from an audit that concluded last week to release the final deficit tally.
They will discuss the budget at a joint meeting with city councilors scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, said Peter Eglinton, the committee's finance chairman.
