SKOWHEGAN - A Cambridge woman pleaded guilty this week to aggravated operating a motor vehicle after suspension in a two-vehicle collision that killed a St. Albans woman, two days after Christmas, 2007.
Stella A. Briel, 50, of Guilford Road, entered her plea Wednesday before Superior Court Justice Joseph Jabar.
She is to be sentenced on the Class B felony charge on Oct. 29 at the Skowhegan court, according to court papers. The charge carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
Heather Barrows, 40, was killed when her 2001 Mitsubishi was struck as Briel's 2000 GMC Yukon spun out of control on snow-slicked Palmyra Road, police said in published reports.
Briel apparently was driving near the shoulder of the road in order to provide clearance for oncoming traffic, police said at the time.
The SUV skidded sideways and into the path of Barrows' vehicle.
Barrows was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
