The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that killed an elderly woman in Harrison today.

The two-car collision happened at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 117 and Crystal Lake Park.

A Subaru Legacy with two occupants was heading south when it apparently crossed the center line hitting a Chevrolet Equinox driven in the opposite direction.

The Subaru's occupants had to be extricated and the passenger was pronounced dead on arrival at Stephens Memorial Hospital. The driver, an elderly man, was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center with serious internal injuries.

The elderly female driving the other car was taken to Bridgton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not release the names of those involved pending notification of family members.
