OLD ORCHARD BEACH - The town's police chief this week will ask town councilors to support installing two more surveillance cameras at Memorial Park to cut down on vandalism.

Two teenagers face criminal mischief charges in connection with damage last week at the park Two ornamental trees were damaged so badly, they had to be removed. The trees were valued at $1,500.

Police said a number of other youths also are suspected of damage in the park and will be interviewed.

Police Chief Dana Kelley said the total damage to the park in the past couple months is between $4,000 and $5,000, leading him to request additional cameras there.
