The Harvest Fund at Maine Initiatives is calling for grant applications from people "planting the seeds" of sustainable agriculture and an end to hunger.
Harvest Fund grants, which range from $500 to $5,000, support healthy food advocacy, community gardens, heirloom seed preservation, defense of family farming, organic milk production, farm markets and more.
"The grants aren't for individuals," said Charlie Bernstein, Maine Initiatives' executive director, in a news release. "They're for groups of people working together to grow something, to make something happen that's good for their community or the state or the world."
Contact Maine Initiatives at www.maineinitiatives.org or call 622-6294. For information or to apply for the grant program log on to info@maineinitiatives.org
The application deadline is Nov. 12.
