CHELSEA -- An informational meeting concerning the proposal to merge the Chelsea school department into an eight-town school district will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at Chelsea Elementary School.

Under the state's school-district consolidation law, Chelsea's school plans to merge into a district with schools in Alna, Palermo, Somerville, Westport Island, Whitefield, Windsor and Wiscasset.
