Fire destroyed a mobile home in Gorham this morning.

Firefighters were called to the corner of Route 25 and Farrington Road by a police officer who spotted smoke pouring from the small mobile home at 9:30 a.m.

By the time firefighters arrived, flames were consuming the building. They had the flames knocked down in 15 minutes but there was little left, said Fire Chief Robert Lefebvre.

Nobody was home and nobody was injured in the fire The man who rented there was at work and returned home to find his cat had escaped the fire, Lefebvre said.

The cause remains under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious.
