WINSLOW $ Elise Theriault scored a little more than two minutes into double overtime to lift the No. 3 Winslow field hockey team past nemesis Waterville 1-0 in an Eastern B quarterfinal showdown Wednesday.
The Black Raiders (12-3-0) will play either No. 7 Camden or No. 2 Mt. View in the semifinals Saturday. Those teams play Thursday.
Winslow is making its first appearance in the semifinals since 2003. Last year, they lost to eventual state champion Waterville in the regular season finale and the quarterfinals.
This year, the Black Raiders turned the tables, accomplishing the same double against the Purple Panthers (8-7-0).
"We knew we had to win," Theriault said. "We just had to."
Sara Pullen assisted on the game-winner.
