CLINTON -- The Police Department is holding an informational meeting at 7 tonight at Town Hall.
Police Chief Charles Runnels is convening the meeting to answer questions and concerns people have about the police department. Runnels believes some townspeople are basing their opposition to police spending on unfair "rumors and innuendoes."
The meeting comes a week before voters decide the fate of police spending in town. Article 2 on the Nov. 4 ballot asks voters to approve $175,206 for the police department; the budget is the same as last year's. The town's budget committee had originally recommended a $199,256 budget, but voters have rejected the extra spending.
