BRUNSWICK - A Bath woman was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland on Monday afternoon after the vehicle she was driving crashed into the back end of a wood-chipping truck.

Brunswick police Sgt. Russell Wrede said 22-year-old Caitlyn Peaslee's car hit the truck as the truck was turning left through the median strip. Crews have spent the last several days trimming trees along Route 1.

The accident took place in the northbound lane of Route 1, just north of Cook's Corner.

Wrede said crews from the fire department extricated Peaslee from the wreckage. She suffered a broken leg, according to Wrede. No one in the wood- chipping truck was injured.

Wrede said the accident, which took place around 3 p.m., was caused by driver inattention.
