Todd Palin, husband of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, is featured in direct mail ads that have gone out to rural Mainers, according to the Web site of Politico.
The mail ads aim to strike up fears that Democrat Barack Obama wouldn't be friendly to rural Mainers who enjoy snowmobiling.
The McCain campaign hopes to pick up one of Maine's four electoral votes. The 2nd Congressional District includes more rural voting areas that the McCain campaign thinks are more sympathetic to the Republicans.
Todd Palin visited a trading post in Palmyra earlier this month and Sarah Palin spoke at Bangor International Airport.
