Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine, which supports victims of sexual assault, presented its community service award Tuesday to detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
The agency's board of directors held its annual meeting in Portland Tuesday and presented the award for the detectives' hard work investigating sex crimes, their sensitivity to the emotional toll the crimes take on victims and their efforts to bring in the agency's advocates to help support victims, said SARS Executive Director Cyndi Amato.
The organization also presented a community service award to Hall Web Services in Scarborough, which maintains the organization's Web site for free.
