UNITY - Chris Thorne made his second trip to his old haunts pay off on Sunday, as the Sidney driver dominated the second half of the 75-lap Late Model feature at Unity Raceway to win that portion of the 20th annual season-ending Long John at the track.
Thorne, the 2005 Sportsman champion at the track and the reigning Wiscasset Raceway Late Model champion held off mult-time feature winners Joey Doyon of Winterport and Deane Smart of Bradley for the victory.
"We had a restart just after halfway, the car really came in after that," Thorne said. "It just loosened up enough (to be fast)."
Thorne finished second in his only other start at Unity this season.
