CASCO - Firefighters fought a garage fire in Casco on Sunday, but they did not know whether their lives were in danger until the blaze had been extinguished.
Chief John Small said a neighbor warned fire crews that propane tanks and torches were stored inside the garage at 34 Lower Coffee Pond Road. The owners of the property were not at home when the fire was reported about 4:40 p.m.
Casco, Naples and Raymond firefighers put the fire out in 30 minutes. Small said there was no evidence of propane equipment having been stored in the garage.
Firefighters saved the home, which was located about 20 feet from the garage. The garage was destroyed.
