Circuit City Stores Inc. is closing 155 of its stores in the U.S. but none of its stores in Maine are on the list of closings.

The company cited a deteriorating liquidity position and a consumer spending slowdown for the move, which will involve more than a fifth of its U. S. market.

The only Circuit City Store in New England to close is in Connecticut.
