Logger killed in woods accident

By Doug Harlow Morning Sentinel Staff Writer November 03, 2008 04:54 PM

BRIGHTON PLANTATION - A logger from the Somerset County town of Harmony was killed Monday morning when a large tree branch fell on him as he worked in woods off what is known as the Old Kingsbury Road.

Dale Stewart, 50, died at the scene, Somerset County sheriff's Deputy Richie Putnam said.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m.

Putnam said Stewart was working alone, about 3 /12 miles from the village center, when a branch from a tree next to the one he was cutting broke loose, fell and struck him.

The Old Kingsbury Road runs from the middle of Brighton village, between state Routes 154 and 151, near Farrin Bros. & Smith contractors.
