FAIRFIELD - Andrew York unseated P. Michael Slaney for a seat on the Town Council on Tuesday night.

York, a former Waterville police officer now pursuing a career in legal studies, defeated Slaney 1,614 to 1,500.

Slaney, 53, had been a town councilor for two years.
