CHELSEA -- A Windsor man in the middle of the roadway died early this morning after being struck by two cars.
Sheriff Randy Liberty said police received a call at 2:53 a.m. of a motor vehicle accident on Route 17. Upon arrival, they found Darren Duncan, 53, of Windsor lying on the side of the road.
"All attempts were made to resuscitate him," Liberty said today. "As it turns out, (drivers of) two motor vehicles traveling northbound on 17 saw him in the middle of the road, but due to heavy fog, darkness and rain, couldn't stop before striking him. Both vehicles ran over the victim."
He said police received a report a short time before the accident that there was an intoxicated person in the roadway and it matched Duncan's description.
Officers detected alcohol on Duncan.
