BATH -- Ian Philbrick scored 1:53 into overtime to lift unbeaten Scarborough to a 1-0 victory over Bangor and to the Class A boys soccer state championship.

It was a classic game between two unbeaten teams. Bangor had beaten Scarborough in double overtime two years ago in the state title game.

Both teams had plenty of opportunities, but goalkeepers Adam Blanchard of the Red Storm and Bud Angst of the Rams played superbly and were aided by exceptional defense.

Scarborough's Ryan Kane made a championship-saving play in the final minutes of regulation when he knocked the ball away from Bangor's Johnny Warren, who had a breakaway.

In overtime, Scarborough's Nate Tolman played the ball behind the Bangor defense to Philbrick, who chipped the ball past a sliding Angst.

Scarborough finished 18-0 while Bangor finished 16-1-1.
