Marshall Davis scored on a breakaway with five minutes left to lift Katahdin to a 5-4 win over Richmond for the State Class D soccer championship Saturday. Davis' goal capped a three-goal rally for the Cougars who trailed 4-2 early in the second half. The state title is the first ever for Eastern Maine champion Katahdin (17-0-1).
The loss was the first for Richmond (16-1-0) in 25 games. The defending state champions got three goals from senior striker Andy Harrington and another from Eric Murrin.
