Portland's City Council elected Jill Duson as its new mayor during a brief meeting at Portland City Hall this evening.

Duson, who served as mayor four years ago, replaces Ed Suslovic, who was not re-elected at the Nov. 4 election.

Today's vote was unanimous.

Duson pledged to make economic development and more affordable housing opportunities her top priorities.
