VASSALBORO -- A 17-year-old girl from Vassalboro died in a car accident Saturday afternoon on Stone Road.

Amanda Edwards was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old South China boy, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police.

McCausland said the driver suffered minor injuries. The driver's name was not being released by authorities as of Sunday afternoon.

McCausland said investigators concluded that the car went out of control, and skidded sideways and into the path of another vehicle driven by Vicki Loubier, 41, of China.

Loubier suffered minor injuries as well, McCausland said.

Troopers were at the scene investigating the accident until after 8 p.m. Saturday.
