Gene Beaudoin, the consultant who is promoting development of slot machines and a retail/office complex at Scarborough Downs race track, said Monday night he has not decided if he will seek a ballot recount.
Beaudoin and Mark Maroon, a representive from Save Our Scarborough, attended a two-hour ballot inspection Monday afternoon at Scarborough Town Hall.
"We wanted to get a lay of the land before making our decision (to hold a recount)," Beaudoin explained.
Maroon, whose group opposes the project, said he fully expects that Scarborough Downs will request a recount of ballots cast in the Nov. 4 election. A measure to allow slot machines at Scarborough Downs was defeated by a margin of 239 votes.
Beaudoin has until Monday to ask for a hand recount, which he says would cost him about $3,000 out of pocket.
