AUGUSTA -- Gov. John Baldacci plans to detail the impact of his spending curtailment order on Wednesday.

The governor's office has requested all state agency heads to submit proposals for cutting their spending for the remainder of the current fiscal year, which will end on June 30, 2009.

School districts across the state have been preparing for the potential effects of the curtailment order. The Department of Education has to account for nearly $55 million in cuts.

The curtailment order is separate from planning for the next biennial budget, for which Baldacci has asked state agency heads to revise down their requests by 10 percent to account for diminished revenue projections.

Baldacci and Finance Commissioner Ryan Low will release details of the curtailment at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Cabinet Room of the Statehouse.
