No flaws found in racino ballots

SCARBOROUGH -- An inspection of ballots in the town's racino referendum resulted in no changes in the vote total, the clerk's office said.

The ballots were inspected Tuesday at the request of from Scarborough Downs, the harness racing track which wants to operate slot machines. The proposal to allow the slot machines -- which would have required state approval as well -- was defeated 5,804 to 5,565 on Nov. 4.

Officials found no flaws in the ballots that required a change in the vote totals, said Carrie Noyes, a deputy town clerk.

Voters have until the end of the day next Monday to request a recount. That requires a petition with the signatures of at least 100 voters who voted on Election Day.
