Hunger report unveiled tonight at Unity College

A new report on hunger in Waldo County, researched by students at Unity College, will be unveiled tonight at the 14th Annual Empty Bowls dinner.

The dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts.

The "Hunger at Home" report was compiled by students as part of a an environmental citizen class taught by Nancy Ross, an associate professor of environmental policy.

Among the report's findings: the number of Unity Elementary School students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch has increased by 11 percent in the last year, to 77 percent.
