PORTLAND -- Presumpscott school and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles on Presumpscott Street are closed today, because of a water main that broke around 4:30 a.m.
The Portland Water District is at the site, working on fixing the problem, but it is not a quick fix. It could be hours before the road and the water line are fully repaired. The road is open, although traveling is slow becuase the road in narrowed due to crews working in the road. It is best to avoid the area if possible.
The water main break has left the Presumpscot School and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles office without water and both will be closed for the day.
BMV officials recommend going to South Portland, Kennebunk or Topsham if you have business that cannot wait. Extra personnel will be dispatched to those locations to assist in the increase of business traffic.
