AUGUSTA -- The public is invited to hear a reading by a best-selling mystery writer from Vermont tonight.

The Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop St., will host Archer Mayor this evening for a reading and book signing.

Mayor is the author of the Joe Gunther mystery series about a detective in Vermont. Mayor's latest Joe Gunther book, "The Catch," takes place in Maine.

Mayor is the 2004 winner of the New England Booksellers Association award for best fiction.

The reading and book signing will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The event is free to the public, though Mayor's books will be available for purchase.
