Flags to be flown at half-staff for Hartland fireman

By Scott Monroe Morning Sentinel reporter November 20, 2008 04:31 PM

Gov. Baldacci today directed that the U.S. and Maine flags in Hartland and Palmyra should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset this Saturday in remembrance of Michael Snowman, the Hartland firefighter who died this week.

Snowman, 49, collapsed at the scene of a house fire in Detroit after suffering an apparent heart attack and later died at the hospital.

Snowman's funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hartland First Baptist Church.

Snowman served as a Hartland fireman for more than 25 years. The town of Palmyra requested its flags be lowered as well because Hartland provides first responder services to the town.
