UPDATE: Lewiston woman dies in Rte. 100 crash

2:45 p.m.:

A 77-year-old Lewiston woman was killed when the minivan she was driving pulled out in front of a northbound tractor-trailer truck on Route 100 in New Gloucester at 9:30 a.m.

Alice Thibeault was pulling out of Mario's Pizza when the truck hit the driver's side of the van, said Maine State Police Trooper Michael Smith.

She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The truck, hauling restaurant supplies, was driven by Melvin Craig, 52, of Brunswick. He was not charged in connection with the crash.

Traffic was detoured around the crash site for about five hours before the road was reopened at 1:30 p.m.

10:32 a.m.:

NEW GLOUCESTER -- One person was critically injured when a car collided with a tractor-trailer truck on Route 100 in New Gloucester this morning.

The two vehicles collided in front of Mario's Pizza at 9:30 a.m., State Police said.
The road near the crash has been shut down. Troopers, including members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, are investigating the crash.

The person injured was taken by ambulance to a Lewiston hospital.

10 a.m.

Police are investigating a car crash at 9:45 a.m. on Route 100 in New Gloucester in front of Mario's restaurant.

State police are investigating the crash, which was reported to have serious injuries, but had no further details at this time.
