Travel will be a bit easier during this Thanksgiving holiday period at the Portland International Jetport.
The jetport is partially opening its new $22 million parking garage to help meet the extra demand. It also will be introducing a special family security lane during the busy holiday period.
The partial opening will add 442 parking spots at the Jetport. When the facility is done in mid-February, an additional 1,100 spots will be available. That will bring a total 2,154 garage parking spots in the immediate vicinity of the terminal.
The new family security lane will help process families traveling with babies and young children. Family security checks usually take longer, slowing down processing of other travelers.
The Jetport is advising people who are flying during the holiday break to be at the check-in counters at least 90 minutes before their flights.
