Deering scored 25 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Portland for a 39-14 win in the 97th Thanksgiving Day football game Thursday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Tailback Jack Heary scored three of the four touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Rams broke a 14-14 tie. Heary, a senior, also scored a touchdown in the third quarter.
Portland (3-6) used the passing of quarterback Andrew Lieberman to wide receiver Jake Alexander to get back into the game.
It was Deering's seventh straight win on Thanksgiving. Portland holds a 53-37-7 series lead.
