WATERVILLE -- REM's annual YuleTide Celebration, held this year Dec. 6 at The Center in the downtown, will be an "upstairs, downstairs affair," said REM director Faye Nicholson, who promises "great food, beautiful dance music and a dance showcase and lessons" for party-goers.
Upstairs at the Waterville Opera House studio, a ballroom dance will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Downstairs, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., revelers will find holiday music as a background "for food served to your table $ hot canapés for several hours," ending with sweets, Nicholson said.
REM plans a raffle of the 30 baskets, donated by area individuals and businesses, and an auction of gingerbread houses and other items.
Guests are invited to dress in vintage attire to help create the aura of circa 1900.
"For those who like to dress up, this will be a fun occasion," Nicholson said. "For those who like to watch people who are all dressed, up, this will be a fun occasion. The dancers are invited to come early and join the party downstairs."
Tickets are $10 per person. Pre-paid reservations are required. Call 873-4444.
