Hollis home damaged in fire

By Dennis Hoey Portland Press Herald Staff Writer December 01, 2008 05:32 PM

HOLLIS -- A two-and-half-story home at 544 Hollis Road sustained heavy fire damage this afternoon, but the cause appears to be accidental.

Hollis Fire Chief George Davis said the fire started in an upstairs bedroom, and would appear to have been caused by some type of electrical malfunction.
Davis said the woman who rents the home was out of town. Firefighters were able to save most of her personal belongings, but damage to the second floor was significant.

Davis said he is not certain if the property's owner, Gary Stevenson of Saco, will rebuild the home.

The fire started around 11:30 a.m.
