House and Senate Democrats today nominated Rep. Janet Mills of Farmington to be the next attorney general.

Mills defeated fellow Democrats Sean Faircloth of Bangor and John Brautigam of Falmouth for the position. The full Legislature will vote on the nomination Wednesday.

Republicans are unlikely to oppose her nomination, said House Minority Leader Josh Tardy, R-Newport.
