Police investigate cemetery vandalism

By Doug Harlow Morning Sentinel Staff Writer December 04, 2008 10:52 AM

Police were called to the South Side Cemetery in Skowhegan this week after a caller reported a head stone of a family member had been knocked over.

The investigation revealed that several stones had been vandalized with family names that include Hight, Easler, Knight and Thorne.

The Skowhegan incident comes following thefts at a cemetery in neighboring Canaan.

Solar lights, flowers and statues were stolen from the Fairview Cemetery on Route 23 in Canaan throughout the summer and around Halloween time.

Those items were never recovered.
