By Morning Sentinel Staff Report December 04, 2008 04:42 PM

WINSLOW -- St. John Regional Catholic School on Garand Street in Winslow is hosting their 34th Annual Christmas Fair on Friday, Dec. 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, December 6th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is the school's largest fundraiser, and all proceeds benefit St. John School. It is a community event involving parents, students, faculty, parishioners, and business owners in the community, grandparents, friends and families.

Some of the activities include a Christmas Café, a family supper on Friday night, lunch on Saturday, and a Kids' Korner on both days offering a variety of children's activities and games.

Other Christmas shopping stops include hand-decorated Christmas wreaths made by Central Maine Wreath and Poinsettias from Longfellow's Greenhouses; the House of Sweets (homemade fudge and candies), the Bakery Shoppe (homemade baked goods), White Elephant Sale; Knitting Bazaar (handmade hats, mittens, etc.), the Stitchery Corner (handmade items), the Silent Auction (gift baskets and gift items) a Cash Raffle and a Basket Raffle; and Book Gift Baskets.

The Second Time Around Kids' Boutique, specializing in used infant and children's clothing, will be back again this year.

There will also be two raffles # one for $500 in fuel ($20/ticket # limit of 100 tickets) and one for a Wii System. Tickets are on a first come, first served basis, and they will only be sold at the fair.

The Silent Auction has many wonderful gift items, including an iPod Shuffle, outdoor home improvement items (i.e., bronze lanterns and landscape lighting), an Alfond Center Kids' Pool Party, refurbished claw foot bathtub, various themed baskets (Red Sox items and a wine enthusiast basket), digital photo frame and gift certificates to local merchants.

The Christmas Fair is a long tradition started by the late Regina Breton, who dedicated many hours to St. John School and its children. For more information, contact co-chairpersons Christa Nadeau at 861-0124 or Michelle Theriault at 873-6337.
