CLINTON - Matt Buck is one of two sixth-graders in the state to win an award in Efficiency Maine's annual energy-savings tip contest.

The Clinton Elementary School student met with Gov. John E. Baldacci last week, and got a tour of the governor's office, as well as the State House. Students from grades 4, 5 and 6 won iPod Shuffle music players and solar-powered chargers as prizes.

Buck, son of Ryan and Jessica Buck, named his winning entry "Don't use an AC. Use a fan."

"I don't use an air conditioner, because it wastes electricity," Buck said. "I have a clip on my bed with a fan on it for when I get hot. We should use as little energy as possible."
