STATEWIDE -- As of 9 a.m. this morning, Central Maine Power was reporting 36,000 customers in the Alfred service area still without power. In Portland, much progress was made last night, bringing that outage number down well below 1,000 customers (366). And Brunswick is still reporting 2,678 customers out of power, down from the peak of 220,000 customer accounts Friday afternoon.
The power company this morning said more than 1,300 workers are in the field trying to restore power. That includes more than 500 line workers, 13 pole-setting crews out in the field. In addition, CMP officials say, hundreds of people are engaged in support tasks including damage assessment, answering phones, moving equipment and arranging meals and lodging.
In a statement released last night at 9:30 p.m., CMP officials said they expect to finish restoring power to cities and towns served out of the utility's Portland office by late Monday night. This includes all or parts of Buxton, Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Gorham, North Yarmouth, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland, Standish, Westbrook, and Windham.
