Sanford house fire under investigation

By Giselle Goodman December 15, 2008 09:09 AM

SANFORD -- Firefighters this morning are still keeping an eye on a house that was ruined by fire yesterday afternoon.

Fire crews got to the house at 2212 Main St. at 4 p.m. and found that it was burning hot and spreading fast.

"It rapidly became a defensive operation," said Sanford Fire Lt. Paul Dubois. He said it spread so quickly, firefighters could not go inside the house to douse the fire.

The house was all but destroyed by the blaze. Dubois said no one was injured in the fire.

Fire investigators will work today to determine how it started. Dubois said a few firefighters are still at the house to keep the scene secure and watch for hot spots to make sure the fire does not flare up again.
