A Limington man is in custody on charges he robbed a Cornish Rite Aid Sunday afternoon.

Michael Peterson, 22, allegedly went into the pharmacy at 2:30 p.m. and demanded the painkiller OxyContin. He did not show a weapon or say he had one, however he had his hands in his coat pockets, a spokesman for the York County Sheriff's Office said.

The clerk refused to comply and Peterson ran away, police said. A deputy was on patrol nearby and witnesses pointed out where the man ran into the woods. Deputy Kyle Kassa found the man hiding and was able to grab him when he ran, subduing him with the help of witnesses, police said.

Peterson was charged with attempted robbery and outstanding warrants for burglary. He is being held in York County Jail on $10,500 bail.
