One (almost) down, two more to go.
Today's storm, which brought the first significant snowfall for much of the region, was the first and likely least powerful of three storms predicted to arrive over the next several days.
Snow continued to fall in Augusta Wednesday afternoon, but the storm was expected to depart the area by evening. The storm will likely dump up to five inches in the city by the time it is gone.
Some precipitation is expected to fall as ice near the coast where warmer weather is being pushed in off the water.
The National Weather Service is calling for partly cloudy skies Thursday in advance of the next storm, which is set to begin dropping several inches of snow Friday afternoon. That storm wraps up on Saturday, leaving just cloudy weather Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
The third storm, which is slated to hit the area Sunday night or Monday, is shaping up as a Nor' Easter with a significant snowfall and wind.
