Gov. John Baldacci today awarded $4.9 million to 14 communities in Riverfront Community Development Bonds, according to his press office.

The governor says the funding, provided to communities, will leverage more than $41.7 million in private and public investments.

The Legislature passed the $5 million Riverfront Community Development Bond and Maine voters approved it in November 2007.

Here are the central Maine projects that will get funding:

Gardiner/Augusta: Trails, public access, habitat improvement $495,000

Pittsfield: Trails, public access, habitat improvement $32,200

Richmond: Riverfront park/public access $333,000

Skowhegan: Public access/river park, trails $110,000
