GORHAM -- Wednesday's bomb scare at Gorham High School has delayed student and teacher feedback on a proposal to resume saying the Pledge of Allegiance daily.
Superintendent Ted Sharp has proposed a pledge policy that would provide an opportunity to say the pledge every day, in every classroom. Sharp recently learned that it's been about 30 years since the pledge was said regularly at the high school.
Sharp sought input from the student-teacher council -- an advisory panel made up of 10 students and 10 teachers elected by their peers -- before seeking final approval from the School Committee.
The council voted 15-4 against Sharp's proposal last month and was expected to develop possible alternatives on Wednesday.
However, classes were canceled and students were sent home early after the high school received a bomb threat.
Sharp said the council is expected to reschedule its debate of the pledge issue and submit its recommendation to the School Committee early in the new year.
