Sidney accident
injures N.H. woman
SIDNEY $ A New Hampshire woman was taken to the hospital Thursday after her car left West River Road and struck a tree.
Laura Shepard, 20, of Newmarket, N.H., was taken to an area hospital with complaints of pain and possibly broken bones, said Sgt. Christopher Cowan of the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department.
Shepard was traveling north on West River Road when she rounded a corner and lost control of her 2005 Nissan four-door car. Shepard's car skidded across both lanes and struck some trees off the side of the road, Cowan said.
The accident remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, Cowan said.
