By Giselle Goodman December 22, 2008 10:12 AM

AUGUSTA # Maine State Government will open at noon today with the exception of Aroostook County, which is still being affected by a winter storm that hit the state on Sunday.

State government facilities in Aroostook will remain closed for the entire day.

9:04 a.m.:
AUGUSTA -- All state government offices in Augusta will open at noon today. A decision on a possible full-day closure will be made by 10 a.m. today.

Because of strong winds, drifting snow and bitter temperatures, Gov. John Baldacci urged people last night to avoid unnecessary travel. And if you need to travel, don't forget a winter survival kit that includes warm clothing, food, water and a flashlight.

If your plans included flying somewhere today, be aware that many flights out of the Portland International Jetport are delayed or canceled. By clicking on the icon at right, you can visit the webpage listing jetport arrivals and departures, cancellations or delays (although it doesn't seem to be functioning properly this morning.)

Meanwhile, there are about 299 other advisories of closings, delays and parking bans statewide that you might want to know about, all of which can be accessed by clicking here. This will redirect you to our storm-closing information.
