GEORGETOWN -- The bridge spanning the Back River between Arrowsic and Georgetown will close tonight at 9 p.m., so the bridge can be moved. The roadway should reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, but if more work is needed, the bridge will close on Tuesday for a second night.
Moving the bridge is the first step in a Maine Department of Transportation project to replace the aging structure. The bridge carries Route 127 over the river.
The new bridge is expected to be completed by Nov. 1, 2009.
